In development since 1992, the system began life as a UNDP and CARE International micro-finance project. It was used in over 180 locations in Africa, servicing over 4 million people.

Caroma Systems Ltd was formed in 2014 to launch the software to UK Credit Unions and developed the system to comply with all UK legislation.
