Nicholas Hext

Nicholas Hext has a diverse work history with experience in scientific information analysis and research. Nicholas started their career in 1993 as a Research Associate at the University of Nottingham/Loughborough University of Technology, where they synthesized various compounds and designed multi-stage syntheses. In 1995, they joined the University of Nevada Reno as a Research Associate/Assistant Research Professor, focusing on synthesizing fluorescent compounds and completing novel syntheses. In 2008, they transitioned to working at CAS as an Assistant Scientific Information Analyst, analyzing organic chemistry documents and resolving indexing conflicts. Over the years, they advanced to the role of Associate Scientific Information Analyst, where they trained new analysts, expanded the capabilities of the database, and served as a resource for indexing questions. Currently, they hold the position of Senior Associate Scientific Information Analyst at CAS, where they have expanded their responsibilities to include answering company-wide indexing questions and performing quality control on outsourced documents.

Nicholas Hext obtained a BSc in Chemistry from the University of Bristol, studying from 1982 to 1985. Following this, they pursued further education and completed their PhD in Chemistry at the same institution, from 1985 to 1988.
