David Borkholder

Co-Founder, Chief Research Officer at Casana

Prior to joining Casana, Dave was the Bausch and Lomb Professor of Microsystems Engineering at RIT where his research spanned biosensors, MEMS, medical devices, and therapies for auditory dysfunction. ​​Dave has published over 75 journal and conference proceedings and holds 24 patents related to cell-based biosensors, DNA analysis, blast dosimetry, and cardiovascular monitoring.

Dave previously founded BlackBox Biometrics, which was acquired by Airboss Defense Group in 2021. He led electronics and ASIC development at ZONARE Medical Systems and contributed to a successful IPO at Cepheid in 2000.
