Jana O'Connor

‘because News’ Contributing Writer at CBC/Radio-Canada

Jana O'Connor currently serves as the Director of Event Services at the Alberta Machine Intelligence Institute (Amii) since September 2024. Jana has a diverse background in the arts and communications, including roles as a contributing writer for the 'Because News' program at CBC/Radio-Canada from March 2021 and as the Executive Director of LitFest, Canada's first nonfiction festival, from June 2022 to September 2024. Previous experience includes positions as a Communications Strategist at the Edmonton Arts Council and as a Special Event Coordinator at NAIT. Jana has held various roles at Mosaic Entertainment Inc., including Content Coordinator, Manager of Content & Development, and Story Editor, and has worked with CBC, contributing as a performer and writer for The Irrelevant Show. Educational credentials include a Plain Language Communications Certificate from Simon Fraser University and a Diploma in Design and Visual Communications from MacEwan University.
