Renee Ned-Sykes, MMSc, PhD, is a seasoned health scientist and team lead in laboratory workforce development at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), where tenure began in August 2009. Renee's expertise encompasses project management and implementation of initiatives aimed at enhancing the sustainability of the U.S. national public health laboratory system. Renee has played pivotal roles in genetic epidemiology research, coordination of projects related to chronic and infectious diseases, and served as acting associate director for laboratory science, advising on operational functions of laboratories within the National Center for HIV/AIDS, Viral Hepatitis, STD, and TB Prevention. Prior to CDC, Renee worked as a project coordinator and research fellow, contributing significantly to studies such as the cerebral malaria project in India. Academic credentials include a Ph.D. in Genetics from Harvard University and a Master's in Medical Science from Harvard Medical School.
