Martin Courchesne has extensive work experience in the field of simulation and software development. Martin is currently the Head Of Laboratory at CEA, where they oversee the operations and activities of the laboratory. Martin was involved in designing and implementing simulation modules for various applications, such as vehicles, cranes, and offshore equipment.

Prior to that, they worked as the Physics Team Lead at Radical Entertainment, where they played a key role in developing and implementing a physics SDK for video games. Martin also led the R&D simulation group and contributed to the redesign of the game framework for optimal use of physics simulation capabilities.

Earlier in their career, Martin worked as a Software Team Leader at Vertigo 3D, where they managed and coordinated software development for the company's product line. Martin also developed various modules related to 3D engine, image processing, and rendering.

Martin's work experience also includes a role as a Research Assistant at Université de Genève, where they contributed to the development of software capable of simulating computer-animated 3D actors interacting with external objects. This work was published in the Siggraph 95 proceeding.

Martin Courchesne began their education in 1986 at the Université de Sherbrooke, where they earned a Bachelor of Applied Science (B.A.Sc.) degree in Physics. Martin then pursued further studies at Université Laval from 1990 to 1992, obtaining a Master's degree in Optical Physics. Martin also worked as a Research Assistant at the University of Geneva from 1994 to 1996, specializing in Computer Animation.

The CEA is the French Alternative Energies and Atomic Energy Commission ("Commissariat à l'énergie atomique et aux énergies alternatives"​). It is a public body established in October 1945 by General de Gaulle.
