Arun Sharma

Arun Sharma is an Associate Professor at Cedars-Sinai, leading an independent research laboratory focused on stem cell applications in heart disease and the effects of spaceflight on human physiology. Previously, Arun served as an Assistant Professor and Postdoctoral Research Fellow, where research involved utilizing microfluidic organ chips and pluripotent stem cells for cardiovascular drug toxicity and COVID-19 models. Former experience includes a Postdoctoral Research Fellowship at Harvard Medical School, studying congenital heart disease and cardiomyocyte contractility via CRISPR/Cas9 technology, and a PhD in Stem Cell Biology and Regenerative Medicine from Stanford University. Research endeavors also encompass blood vessel development in cancer and methods for deriving heart cells from human stem cells. Arun holds a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Duke University and a certificate from the Stanford Ignite Full-Time Program.
