Kuiyi Xing

Principal Scientist at Celerion

Kuiyi Xing has a diverse work experience in the field of scientific research. They began their career at Fudan University as a Research and Teaching Assistant Professor, conducting research on the Chinese Rice Genome Sequencing Project. They also instructed senior undergraduates in a lab course. After that, Xing joined the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, where they served as a Graduate Research Assistant and investigated the physiological function of thioltransferase in preventing oxidative stress-induced human lens cataract formation. They also identified and cloned the thioltransferase cDNA from human lens epithelial cells and demonstrated the formation of protein-SS-glutathione as a cause of enzyme inactivation. Xing went on to become a Post Doc Research Associate and a Senior Research Associate at the same institution, investigating the mechanisms of drug-induced cataract formation and the role of thioltransferase in redox signaling. They also studied the effects of compounds from companies like Merck and Eli Lilly and Co on lenses in organ culture. Xing then joined LI-COR Biosciences as a Scientist, where they conducted research on developing reagents and methods for biochemical and cell-based assays. They also supported customers with technical issues and troubleshooting. Currently, Xing works at Celerion, holding the positions of Senior Analyst and Scientist.

Kuiyi Xing earned a Bachelor's degree in Biochemistry from Fudan University, where they studied from 1987 to 1991. Kuiyi then pursued further education at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln from 1996 to 2002, where they obtained a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences.
