James Baxter

James Baxter is a seasoned professional with extensive experience in software engineering and management. Currently serving as the Sr. Director of Software Engineering at Cengage Group since December 2021, James oversees the development of digital products that enhance educational accessibility and prepare students for the workforce. In addition to this role, James directed membership initiatives at the Clemson Rugby Foundation for nearly 15 years, successfully raising over $250,000 to support youth rugby in South Carolina. Previous positions include Software Development Manager at Netsmart, where James led a team on API development and cloud solutions, and Engineering Manager for Connectivity Solutions at International Paper, where responsibility included managing data integration technical services. With a foundational education in Graphic Communications from Clemson University, James has held various roles in IT and technical services throughout his career.
