Austin Snowbarger has a robust background in strategy, research, and humanitarian response, currently serving as the Senior Manager of Strategy and Research at the Center for Disaster Philanthropy since February 2022. Previous roles include Manager of Learning and Partnerships, focusing on disaster and humanitarian emergency philanthropy, and various positions at NextFifty Initiative, where efforts centered on data analysis and organizational learning for older adult advocacy. Austin also gained significant experience with World Concern, managing emergency response projects and securing additional funding after Hurricane Matthew. Educational credentials include a Master’s Degree in Development and Emergency Practice from Oxford Brookes University and a Bachelor’s Degree in International/Global Studies from Colorado Christian University.

CDP’s mission is to leverage the power of philanthropy to mobilize a full range of resources that strengthen the ability of communities to withstand disasters and recover equitably when they occur. With an emphasis on recovery and disaster risk reduction, CDP aims to: • Increase the effectiveness of contributions given to disasters • Bring greater attention to the life cycle of disasters, from preparedness and planning, to relief, to rebuilding and recovery efforts • Provide timely and relevant advice from experts with deep knowledge of disaster philanthropy • Conduct due diligence so donors can give with confidence • Create plans for informed giving for individuals, corporations and foundations
