Grant Baumgardner is an experienced research engineer with a strong focus on energy conservation technologies, currently working at the Center for Energy and Environment since August 2022. Prior experience includes roles as a Senior Controls Engineer and Controls Engineer at Trane Technologies, where Grant developed energy-efficient refrigeration system control algorithms. Before that, Grant participated in the Engineering Accelerated Development Program at Ingersoll Rand, completing rotations in applications engineering, data science, and thermal systems engineering. Additional experience includes tutoring at the Student Success Center at Virginia Tech and conducting research at the Virginia Tech Department of Biomedical Engineering and Mechanics. Grant holds a Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Purdue University and a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Virginia Tech.
