Qualitative Research Methodologist, Triage Response Team at Center for Policing Equity

Paula Ioanide serves as Qualitative Research Methodologist on the Triage Response Team. In this role, she works to ensure that Black and vulnerable communities are centered and engaged in processes that reimagine public safety.

Paula specializes in qualitative research design, community-based research, racial/ethnic disparities, racial equity, and Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) strategic planning and training. She uses these skills to empower those in pursuit of racial justice to participate in decision-making processes and create more just outcomes.

Paula holds a Ph.D. in History of Consciousness from University of California, Santa Cruz. Prior to joining CPE, she held a full professorship at the Center for the Study of Culture, Race & Ethnicity at Ithaca College. Her most recent community-based engagements focused on eliminating systemic barriers to reentry for people returning from jails and/or prisons.
