Michael Leachman is an accomplished policy expert with extensive experience in state fiscal policy, currently serving as the Senior Vice President for State Fiscal Policy at the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities since July 2009. Leachman has held various leadership positions within the organization, progressing from Assistant Director to Senior Director and Vice President. Prior to this role, Leachman worked as a Policy Analyst at the Oregon Center for Public Policy from December 1999 to July 2009. Academic credentials include a Bachelor of Arts in English from the University of Notre Dame and a Doctor of Philosophy in Sociology from Loyola University Chicago.

Center on Budget and Policy Priorities is a non-profit, non-partisan policy organization working at the federal and state levels on fiscal policy and public programs that affect low- and moderate-income families and individuals.The center conducts research and analysis to help shape public debates over proposed budget and tax policies andensure that policymakers consider the needs of low-income families and individuals in these debates. In addition, the center examines the short- and long-term impacts of proposed policies on the health of the economy and the soundness of federal and state budgets.The center is dedicated to improving government policies toward low- and middle-income Americans and ensuring that the government has the resources to meet its responsibilities and address critical needs.
