Michael Mitchell

Michael Mitchell is an experienced policy expert currently serving as the Lead Researcher at the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities, where responsibilities include leading research and project management on state-level criminal justice reform. Previously, Michael held the role of Director, Policy & Research at The Groundwork Collaborative and served in various senior positions at the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities, focusing on equity and inclusion initiatives, state policy fellowship programs, and conducting research on budgeting, tax, and low-income issues. Michael's early experience includes internships in the offices of U.S. Representative Jim Himes and U.S. Senator Edward Kennedy, where assistance was provided in legislative matters and constituent relations. Michael holds a Master of Public Administration from Syracuse University and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Economics from the University of Connecticut.
