Melissa McCormack

Melissa McCormack is an experienced professional in the life sciences field, currently serving as Assistant Scientist II at Cerus since April 2017. With a strong background in laboratory research, Melissa has conducted experiments related to product claims and regulatory submissions while working with pathogenic organisms in BSL-2+ environments. Prior to Cerus, Melissa worked at Theranos, Inc. as a Clinical Laboratory Associate, where responsibilities included the operation of automated clinical analyzers and handling human blood samples. Earlier experience includes a role as an Israel Teaching Fellow, where Melissa instructed English to elementary students, and as an Undergraduate Research Assistant at UC Santa Cruz, focusing on chromatin remodeling in Drosophila development. Melissa holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from the University of California, Santa Cruz.
