Arne Bakker is a seasoned professional in scientific engagement and education, currently serving as Senior Director of Events and Engagement at the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative since August 2017, having previously held various leadership roles in events and community for science within the organization. Prior experience includes positions at Stanford University, where Arne was Assistant Dean of Career Education and Associate Director of Career Communities for PhDs and Postdocs, and a Visiting Scholar role at the University of California, Berkeley. At Berkeley, Arne played a pivotal role as one of the chairs of the Postdoc Teaching Opportunity Program, which aimed to enhance teaching opportunities for postdoctoral researchers. Arne's earlier experience includes directing the Discovery Festival at the Very Disco Foundation and serving as a Postdoctoral Researcher. Arne holds a PhD in Tumor Immunology from the Netherlands Cancer Institute and has educational credentials from the University of Amsterdam and Harvard Medical School.
