Mikala C. is an experienced data scientist currently employed at the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative since January 2022. Prior to this role, Mikala served as an epidemiologist at the County of Santa Cruz Health Services Agency from March 2019 to January 2022 and held the position of California Epidemiologic Investigation Service Fellow at the California Department of Public Health from July 2018 to March 2019. Earlier experience includes a graduate student researcher role at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and at Emory University, as well as positions as a clinical research regulatory coordinator and research assistant at UCLA. Mikala holds a Master’s Degree in Epidemiology from Emory University (2016-2018) and a Bachelor of Science in Biology and Global Studies from UCLA (2011-2015).
