Rana Freedman serves as the Director of Social Media and Digital Marketing at the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative, leading the Digital team within Brand and Communications since January 2025. Prior to this role, Rana held the position of Director of Integrated Marketing at the University of California from December 2015 to January 2025, where responsibilities included developing strategies to enhance public understanding of the University’s contributions. Rana also worked as the Content Marketing Director for the University of California system, creating marketing campaigns across multiple campuses and centers. Rana's earlier experience includes a decade at Lonely Planet, rising from Public Relations Executive to Director of Marketing and PR, overseeing comprehensive marketing strategies. Additional work includes freelance publicity for films and non-profits, and positions in public relations and marketing within various organizations. Rana holds a Bachelor of Arts in Religion/Religious Studies from Oberlin College.
