Debbie Barton, CPA, has a diverse work experience spanning various roles in finance and accounting. Debbie currently serves as the Assistant Finance Director at the City of Charleston since September 2017. Prior to that, they worked as an Accounting Manager at Gildan from September 2016 to September 2017. Their previous role was at Sonepar USA, where they held the position of Manager Treasury and Risk Services - Sr. Risk Management from June 2010 to October 2015. In this role, Debbie was responsible for leading the design and implementation efforts of a treasury database, managing the insurance budget, and integrating newly acquired operating companies into the consolidated insurance program. Before joining Sonepar USA, they worked at Hagemeyer North America from July 2002 to June 2010 as Manager Treasury and Risk Services - Cash Manager and Internal Auditor. In these roles, they were involved in financial restructuring, cash flow analysis, cash forecasting, and overseeing intercompany loans.
Debbie Barton, CPA, holds a Master of Science in Leadership from The Citadel, obtained in 2020. Prior to that, they completed a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics from the College of Charleston in 1993. Additionally, Debbie Barton has an Associate of Science degree in Accounting from Trident Technical College.
