Jan Olivier has a diverse work experience in various roles and organizations. From 1998 to 2005, Jan worked at Central Johannesburg College as the Head of Curriculum, where they were responsible for academic matters, curriculum and course development, and technology innovation. They also collaborated with national organizations to develop standards and qualifications. From 2005 to 2007, Jan worked at CIPFA as a Learning Support Manager, overseeing student support, events, and study materials. In 2007, they worked as a Consultant, focusing on online learning strategies and instructional design. Since 2008, Jan has been with the Chartered Institute of Internal Auditors, initially as a Learning Manager and currently as the Head of Education and Development. In this role, they manage learning programs, assessments, and support for members, leading to professional designations. Additionally, they oversee research and policy development and provide support internationally.

- From 1996 to 1998, Jan engaged in postgraduate research in Educator Development for English Didactics at Windesheim.
- Between 1993 and 1996, Jan studied Education and Languages at the University of Johannesburg, completing a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree.
