Chester Zoo
John O'Hanlon is a professional with extensive experience in the field of animal conservation and physiology. Currently serving as a BIAZA Research Committee Member since April 2024, John has been a Laboratory Technician at Chester Zoo since September 2017. In this role, John supports conservation breeding efforts by conducting hormone analysis and assessing animal physiology related to reproduction and welfare. Additionally, John collaborates with the veterinary department to monitor the zoo's Asian Elephant herd for Elephant Endotheliotropic Herpesvirus (EEHV) as part of an early warning system. John holds an MSc in Molecular Biology of Parasites and Disease Vectors from Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine and a Bachelor of Science in Zoology from Liverpool John Moores University.
