Chester Zoo
Simon Dowell has a background in ecology and conservation. Simon started their career as a Research Biologist at the Game and Wildlife Conservation Trust in 1989. In 1992, they joined Liverpool John Moores University, where they held various positions including Lecturer, Director of School, and Faculty Head of International Affairs. In 2013, they became the Associate Dean of Strategy and Development at Oxford Brookes University, responsible for the day-to-day leadership and management of the Faculty. Finally, in 2016, they took on the role of Science Director at Chester Zoo.
Simon Dowell completed their Bachelor of Science degree in Biological Sciences from the University of Exeter from 1983 to 1986. Simon later pursued a DPhil in Zoology from the University of Oxford, which they successfully completed from 1986 to 1990.
