Matt Burke

Matt Burke currently serves as the Associate Director of Justice Initiatives at Chicago Beyond since May 2023. Prior to this role, Burke was the Deputy Director of Litigation at the Chicago Police Department from December 2021 to May 2023. Burke also held the position of Executive Director of Human Resources at the Cook County Sheriff's Office from July 2018 to December 2021 and served as Chief of Staff at the Cook County Department of Corrections from June 2014 to July 2018, where the successful effort to end federal oversight of the department was achieved. Earlier in the career, Burke worked as the First Assistant General Counsel at the Cook County Sheriff's Office from April 2011 to June 2014. In terms of education, Burke earned a Doctor of Law (J.D.) and a Master of Arts in Urban Studies/Affairs from Loyola University Chicago, in addition to a Bachelor of Arts degree from The Catholic University of America.
