The mission of the Office of the Inspector General is to ensure integrity in the operations of the Chicago Public Schools by conducting meaningful, accurate and thorough investigations, audits and reviews into allegations of waste, fraud, financial mismanagement and misconduct by CPS employees, Board members, vendors, etc.

The OIG’s General Investigations Unit (GIU) reviews the Board’s systems, practices and procedures to determine their efficacy in preventing waste, fraud and financial mismanagement. The OIG's Sexual Allegations Unit (SAU) investigates allegations of sexual misconduct by a CPS-affiliated adult, including employees, contractors, vendors and charter schools, where the victim is a CPS student and/or a minor. The OIG’s Performance Analysis Unit (PAU) conducts data analysis and performance reviews to make recommendations and improvements to CPS programs and processes.
