Van-Kim Bui Lin serves as the Program Area Director of Early Childhood Development, Sr. Research Scientist, and Co-Director of Early Childhood Systems Building at Child Trends since May 2013, contributing extensive expertise in early childhood development and research. Earlier experience includes roles as Research Assistant in the Fetus to Five Study, Teaching Assistant at Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, and Evaluation Assistant for various home visiting program evaluations. Notably, Van-Kim has a strong foundation in research, demonstrated through leadership in the Cornell Social Cognition Development Lab, and holds a Bachelor's degree in Human Development from Cornell University and a Master's degree in Public Health with a focus on Child and Adolescent Health and Development from Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health.

The Early Childhood Data Collaborative (ECDC) supports state policymakers’ development and use of coordinated state early care and education (ECE) data systems. The ECDC provides tools and resources to encourage data-driven state policy changes and provide a national forum to support the development and use of coordinated state ECE data systems.
