Roy Elis

Roy Elis is an experienced professional in economic insights and educational research, currently serving as the Director and Head of Economic Insights at Chime since January 2021. Previously, Roy founded UpTeach and led as CEO from July 2018 to December 2024. Roy's background includes significant roles at Amazon as a Senior Research Scientist, where research strategies were crafted for TenMarks, and at Teach For America as Senior Managing Director of Research, overseeing important randomized controlled trials and national surveys. Roy has also instructed at Stanford University, earning a Ph.D. in Political Science while contributing to various research projects and teaching roles. Earlier experience includes teaching mathematics within the New York City Department of Education. Roy graduated with a B.A. in Philosophy from the University of Michigan.
