Kevin McCarthy is a Board Member of Chord Energy and serves on the Compensation Committee and Nominating and Governance Committee. He had been the Chairman of the Board of Whiting Petroleum Corporation since 2020. Mr. McCarthy also served on Whiting’s Compensation and Human Resources Committee as well as Whiting’s Nominating and Governance Committee. Mr. McCarthy has significant energy finance and investment experience with deep knowledge of oil and gas commodity markets and oil and gas companies.
Mr. McCarthy has held a range of leadership positions, including as global head of energy investment banking at UBS Securities and similar positions at PaineWebber Incorporated and Dean Witter. He went on to become Chairman of the Board for Kayne Anderson’s closed-end funds from 2004 through July 2020 and Chief Executive Officer for Kayne Anderson’s closed-end funds from 2004 to 2019. Mr. McCarthy has served as Vice Chairman at Kayne Anderson Capital Advisors, L.P. since 2019.
Mr. McCarthy holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics and Geology from Amherst College and an MBA in Finance from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.
