Dorcas Gandhi is a highly experienced medical professional currently serving as Vice Principal, Professor, Research Fellow, and Telerehab Consultant at Christian Medical College & Hospital since October 2022. Previously, Dorcas held the position of Associate Professor and Research Fellow at the same institution from October 2013 to October 2022. Prior to that, Dorcas worked as a Clinical Physiotherapist at Shivkrupa Hospital and Regional Neuroscience Center for a brief period in 2013, and as Director of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Operation Equip India-NGO from May 2012 to March 2013. Dorcas Gandhi obtained a Research Fellow degree in Stroke Rehabilitation from DBT India Alliance/Wellcome Trust in 2018-2019 and holds a Master of Physiotherapy in Adult Neurology and Psychosomatic Disorders from SDM College of Physiotherapy.

Christian Medical College & Hospital

The Christian Medical College and Hospital, Ludhiana, India was the first medical school for women in Asia. It was founded by Dame Edith Mary Brown in 1894. Christian Medical College Ludhiana Society, on behalf of the Church, seeks to contribute to the health needs of India by training primarily Christian Medical, Dental, Nursing and other health professional students and by providing holistic health services to the community and the nation, with people of the Christian faith serving in Christ’s name alongside with those of other faiths, who identify with these aims and goals. In furtherance of the above affirmations, the Christian Medical College, Christian Dental College, College of Nursing, Hospitals and other units are administered as an educational and research Institution of an all India character, run, managed by Christian men and women as health professionals, to the highest standards and in the spirit of Jesus Christ, for the healing ministry of the Church of India. Staff of all faiths shall live and serve together in the Institution in an atmosphere of mutual respect, trust and love. In this atmosphere of mutual trust and undertaking, all the staff shall together strive to create a climate of excellence that is marked by a sense of God’s presence and action in their corporate ministry in the Institution.
