VP, University Advancement at Christopher Newport University

Richard Long serves as the Vice President for University Advancement at Christopher Newport University since August 2024. Previously, Richard held the role of Director of Development at UVA Children's Hospital from May 2022 to August 2024, and prior to that, Richard worked at William & Mary in various development positions, including Director of Development for the Alumni Association where Richard successfully led efforts to meet a $30 million goal as part of the For the Bold campaign. Richard's experience also includes roles in development and advancement at James Madison University and Auburn University, where Richard contributed to significant achievements in collegiate athletics and recruitment. Richard holds a Master’s Degree in Higher Education Administration from William & Mary and a Bachelor of Science in Education with a focus on Exercise Science from Auburn University.
