Allan Friedman, PhD, currently serves as an Adjunct Professor of Informatics at the Luddy School of Informatics, Computing, and Engineering, beginning in April 2025, and holds the position of Senior Advisor and Strategist at the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency since August 2021. Friedman is the Director of the Common Ground Track at Security BSides Las Vegas, leading discussions on topics of collective interest within the hacking and security community since August 2017. Among other accomplishments, Friedman is a co-author of "Cybersecurity and Cyberwar: What Everyone Needs to Know," featured on official reading lists for the US Army and Navy. Prior experience includes roles such as Director of Cybersecurity Initiatives at the US Department of Commerce's NTIA and Research Scientist at George Washington University, alongside significant research positions at institutions such as The Brookings Institution and Harvard University. All academic qualifications include a PhD in Public Policy from Harvard University and a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science from Swarthmore College.
