Sheng Gao's work experience began in 2016 as a Research Assistant at the University of Cambridge, Statslab. From 2017 to 2017, they worked as a Summer Research Student at the University of California, Los Angeles, conducting research in Industrial Programs sponsored by USC Shoah Foundation. In 2021, Sheng Gao worked as a Research Intern at Baidu NLP department, using graph neural networks for molecule quantum property prediction and winning the KDD Cup 2021 OGB-LSC PCQM4M. In 2022, they had a Quantitative Research Internship at Citadel Securities. Starting in 2018 until 2023, Sheng Gao pursued a Ph.D. in Statistics at The Wharton School and is expected to join Citadel Securities as a Quantitative Researcher in 2023.
Sheng Gao has an extensive education history. From 2018 to 2023, they attended The Wharton School, where they obtained a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Statistics. Prior to that, from 2017 to 2018, Sheng studied at the University of Cambridge and earned a Master of Arts (MA) degree in Mathematics. Before their master's degree, from 2014 to 2017, they pursued a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in Mathematics at the same university.
Sheng's educational journey began at The Experimental High School Attached to Beijing Normal University, where they completed their High School Diploma from 2011 to 2014.
In addition to their formal education, Sheng Gao has also obtained certifications. They received a certificate in Biomedical Research from the CITI Program in September 2021. Furthermore, they completed a Reinforcement Learning Specialization from Coursera in September 2020.
