Michael Thompson

Michael Thompson serves as the General Manager of Infrastructure Services for the City of Calgary, a position held since April 2014, where oversight includes capital planning, asset management, infrastructure project delivery, and management of city-owned real estate. Previous roles within the City of Calgary included General Manager of Utilities and Environmental Protection, General Manager of Green Line LRT, General Manager of Transportation, and Director of Transportation Infrastructure. Prior to this, Michael worked at Stantec from May 2002 to April 2014 in various roles within the Transportation Department, focusing on planning, design, and construction administration for projects with capital values ranging from under $1M to over $1B. Michael holds an M.B.A. from the Smith School of Business at Queen's University and a Bachelor of Civil Engineering from the Schulich School of Engineering at the University of Calgary.
