City of South Lake Tahoe
Marty Rider is a firefighter/paramedic with extensive experience in the field. Marty started as an EMT with South Lake Tahoe Fire Rescue/Cal Tahoe JPA, then moved on to work as a firefighter/paramedic with El Dorado County Fire District, and currently with the City of South Lake Tahoe. Prior to working in firefighting, Marty served in the US Navy as a Fleet Marine Force Corpsman, where Marty was a Senior Line Corpsman for the 3rd Battalion 5th Marines Scout Sniper Platoon and also served as a Tactical Combat Casualty Care Instructor. Marty obtained a degree in Fire Academy from Lake Tahoe Community College.

Located 190 miles northeast of San Francisco, CA and 60 miles southwest of Reno, NV in the Sierra Nevada Mountains, South Lake Tahoe boasts one of the most unique settings in the world, at the edge of an alpine lake of great natural beauty and environmental value. The city limits encompass an area of approximately 16 square miles with an average elevation of 6,200 feet above sea level and a population of 22,525.
