Cynthia Nayeli Carvajal

Cynthia Nayeli Carvajal is a dedicated professional with extensive experience in supporting undocumented and immigrant student programs within higher education. Currently serving as the Director of Undocumented and Immigrant Student Programs at The City University of New York since December 2021, this role marks a pioneering effort in New York State to centralize support for undocumented and immigrant students across numerous academic programs. Previously, Cynthia held the position of Project Director for the CUNY Initiative on Immigration and Education, where collaboration with educational and community leaders focused on advocating for equitable policies. Other roles include Immigrant Student Success Manager at John Jay College, Graduate Assistant and Coordinator in various capacities at the University of Arizona, and significant contributions as a Research Assistant at Teachers College, Columbia University. Cynthia holds a Ph.D. in Educational Leadership and Policy from the University of Arizona and a Master's degree in Education Policy and Social Analysis from Teachers College, Columbia University.
