Scott Simpson has a diverse work experience in the field of civil and human rights advocacy. Scott began their career as the Deputy Press Secretary for Congresswoman Marcia L. Fudge, where they managed relationships with news outlets and played a role in relaunching the LGBT Congressional Staff Association. Scott then transitioned to The Leadership Conference on Civil and Human Rights, where they served as the Media and Campaigns Director, overseeing policy advocacy campaigns and media relations for a coalition of national civil rights groups. Additionally, Scott worked as the Public Advocacy Director at Muslim Advocates, where they directed communications and non-litigation programming, and played a key role in fundraising efforts. The Leadership Conference on Civil and Human Rights is a coalition charged by its diverse membership of more than 250 national organizations to promote and protect the civil and human rights of all persons in the United States. Through advocacy and outreach to targeted constituencies, The Leadership Conference works toward the goal of a more open and just society – an America as good as its ideals. The Leadership Conference is a 501(c)(4) organization that engages in legislative advocacy. It was founded in 1950 and has coordinated national lobbying efforts on behalf of every major civil rights law since 1957.
