Classical Charter Schools

Classical Charter Schools prepares scholars for the future by providing them with an excellent education rooted in the Classics. And, in doing so, empowers families in the South Bronx with access to elite academic options. When we defined our mission as, “preparing scholars through a classical curriculum and highly structured setting to become liberated citizens of impeccable character,” a future in which all scholars in the South Bronx can access the opportunities that support their ambitions was exactly what we had in mind. More than a decade later, Classical Charter Schools has four schools across the Bronx, serving over 1,200 scholars in grades K-8. Today, we’re the highest performing non-CMO charter network in all of New York City and a two-time National Blue Ribbon awarded network. Our success is founded on a classical curriculum and targeted support. Every child begins learning Latin in 3rd grade and participates in a Latin-focused international trip to Italy in 8th grade. Art, music, debate and character are core to our curriculum. Additionally, we use data to track learning growth, making sure every scholar is on track to succeed. We achieve incredible results because we recruit, retain, and develop exceptional educators. Frequent observations, direct access to an experienced instructional coach, and monthly professional development are key to our approach. At Classical, staff maximize their impact from day one and often assume advanced leadership positions within a few years. Ultimately, our goal isn’t to achieve great test results. It’s to develop citizens of impeccable character. It’s to prepare children for high school, college, and beyond. And, it’s to develop educators who demonstrate the impact education can have on scholars and their communities. At Classical Charter Schools, we exemplify what public charter schools are ultimately about: unique programs, bold innovation, community partnerships, and outstanding academic outcomes for kids.
