Stephen Jan

Stephen Jan has a diverse work experience in the software engineering field. Stephen started their career at DoubleClick as a Software Test Engineer from January 2003 to October 2004. Stephen then joined Vettro Corp as a Senior Software Engineer, where they worked on the V360 Mobile platform from 2006 to 2009.

In 2010, they joined Barnes & Noble as a Senior Software Engineer, focusing on designing and maintaining payment services for the bn/nook unified backend service platform. Stephen remained with the company until 2014.

From 2015 to 2016, Stephen worked at Google as a Software Engineer, contributing to a customer support solution in the cloud. This role involved leveraging Google data centers, Hangouts scalability, and Chrome apps to create efficient call centers.

In 2015, Stephen embarked on a freelance career as a Mobile Engineer, specializing in Android development. During this period, they worked on various projects involving map-driven apps, 2D game development, and cloud integration.

Most recently, Stephen worked at ClassPass as a Senior Software Engineer until April 2021, and then transitioned to the role of Staff Software Engineer. Stephen'sprimary responsibilities included enhancing the consumer-facing search and discovery experience and improving engineering practices. Stephen also played a role in platform responsibilities such as continuous integration pipeline and re-architecting the architecture to utilize rx operators.

Stephen Jan's education history begins in 1993 when they attended Tenafly High School and obtained their high school diploma in 1997. Stephen then enrolled at Columbia University from 1997 to 2001, where they earned a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Computer Science. Following that, Stephen pursued further studies at Columbia University and obtained a Master of Science (M.S.) degree in Computer Science from 2001 to 2002. Lastly, they continued their academic journey at Columbia University and completed their Master of Science (M.S.) degree in Bioengineering and Biomedical Engineering from 2005 to 2008.
