Cara Rene has a diverse work experience spanning multiple industries and roles. Cara has recently served as the Director of Communications and Marketing at Clean Power Alliance, where they focused on program marketing, media relations, and community engagement support. Prior to this, they worked as the Director of Communications at Santa Monica Travel & Tourism, bolstering the community as a travel destination. Cara also served as the Director of Communications for the City of Vancouver, Washington, overseeing strategic messaging and marketing. Additionally, they worked as the Interim President and CEO, as well as the Senior Vice President of Communications & Stakeholder Relations at Greater Portland Inc, where they developed and executed marketing and engagement strategies. Before that, Cara worked as a Strategic Communications Consultant, providing planning support to various organizations. Cara has also served as the Chief Communications Officer for the Tucson Unified School District and the Vice President of Community Development for the Downtown Tucson Partnership. Earlier in their career, they held editorial and management positions at the Tucson Citizen, a Gannet-owned news organization.
Cara Rene's education history includes a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) degree in Media Arts from the University of Arizona. Cara also holds a Master of Arts (MA) degree in Journalism, again from the University of Arizona.
