Chief Scientific Officer at Cleancard

Thomas Carroll serves as the Chief Scientific Officer at Cleancard since August 2021, focusing on the development of advanced cancer diagnostics. Prior to this role, Thomas was a D.Phil. student at the Ludwig Institute for Cancer Research Ltd from 2016 to 2021, where research led to the discovery of innovative predictive biomarkers for immunochemotherapy in esophageal cancer, published in a reputable journal. Additional experience includes a research assistant position at MD Anderson Cancer Center, investigating the effects of inflammation on cancer, and work at the National Institutes of Health studying Merkel Cell Carcinoma. Thomas also contributed to the MedSeq Project at Baylor College of Medicine, analyzing ethical implications of Whole Genome Sequencing data, and conducted research on lupus at the Cleveland Clinic. Educational qualifications include a D.Phil. from the University of Oxford and dual Bachelor’s degrees in Classical Studies and Biochemistry and Cell Biology from Rice University. Thomas recently completed a program at Y Combinator.
