Jeff Sexton

Jeff Sexton has a diverse work experience in various technical roles. Jeff started their career as an Electrical Apprentice at D. McRae Contracting Ltd. in 2006, where they gained experience in installation and troubleshooting in the commercial/hospital sector. Jeff then worked as an Electrical Apprentice at Bridge Electric Corp., where they participated in the completion of a residential tower and a commercial scientific laboratory project.

In 2009, Jeff moved on to Control Solutions Ltd. as a Service Electrician, where they maintained client relationships and programmed DDC controls. Jeff later became a Systems Designer & Integrator at the same company, applying industry best practices to engineer, plan, and program Building Automation projects. During this time, they also mastered programming languages like Reliable Controls Control-BASIC and Automated Logic EIKON LogicBuilder.

Jeff joined the City of Vancouver in 2015 as an Automation Specialist. Here, they planned, designed, and implemented programming changes to existing Building Automation System codebases. Jeff also administered Windows Server, IIS, and databases for Building Automation System Web Applications.

In 2020, Jeff joined Autotelic Development Ltd. as a Full Stack Developer. Jeff excelled as part of a team that estimated, planned, and delivered client projects. Jeff also developed and maintained project infrastructure using Terraform in AWS and GCP cloud environments. Additionally, they established and maintained automated deployment pipelines for OpenShift and GKE Kubernetes platforms.

Jeff's most recent work experience is as a Web Development Mentor at Lighthouse Labs, starting in 2022. In this role, they support Web Development Bootcamp students, coaching them through roadblocks, providing tips on problem-solving, and offering general support and advice. Jeff keeps current with curriculum changes to provide expert support in various course topics.

Currently, Jeff works as a Software Developer at Clio - Cloud-Based Legal Technology, starting in 2023.

In 2020, they attended Lighthouse Labs and obtained a diploma in Full Stack Web Development.

From 2008 to 2010, they attended the British Columbia Institute of Technology and earned a Trades Qualification and Red Seal in the field of Electrician.

Between 2003 and 2006, they attended Simon Fraser University and completed a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Philosophy.

In addition to their formal education, they have obtained several certifications:

- In November 2021, they completed the Data Engineering, Big Data, and Machine Learning on GCP Specialization offered by Coursera.

- In April 2019, they became a Certified Energy Manager (CEM) through the Association of Energy Engineers.

- In June 2010, they obtained the Red Seal Electrician certification from the Industry Training Authority (ITA).
