Leighton Rowell

Leighton Rowell, M.S., serves as an Associate Producer for Global Digital Programming at CNN since June 2021, focusing on delivering top stories and curating content to engage a global audience. Prior experience includes working as a Stringer for The New York Times, reporting on events in Georgia and the Southeast, and contributing to the Democracy Program at The Carter Center through research and reporting in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Rowell has also held roles at Georgia Public Broadcasting as an Audio Producer, at the U.S. Department of State as a Fulbright English Teaching Assistant, and interned with organizations such as NBC Sports and WSB-TV. Educational credentials include a Master of Science in Global Media and Cultures from the Georgia Institute of Technology and a Bachelor's Degree in History and Romance Languages from the University of Georgia.
