Dr. B Veera Reddy [58] [DIN08679590] has taken over as Director (Technical), CIL with effect from 1 February 2022. Earlier he was working as Director (Technical), Operations, Eastern Coalfields Limited from 01.01.2020 to 31.01.2022. He has done Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech) in Mining from Kothagudem School of Mines, Osmania University in the year 1986 and has been awarded First Class Manager Competency Certificate by the Directorate General of Mine Safety (DGMS) in the year 1990. In the year 2000, he has also done Master of Technology (M.Tech) in Mine Planning from Kothagudem School of Mines, Osmania University. Shri Reddy ji joined Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) in the year 1987 and has over 32 years of experience in coal mining, planning, procurement and operations. He has worked in various capacities in Mechanical Underground and Opencast Mines and Corporate Project Planning Department of Singareni Collieries Company Limited. Before assuming charge as Director (Technical Operations) of Eastern Coalfields Limited, he has also served as General Manager, Adriala Longwall Project Area of Singareni Collieries Company Limited. He does not own any shares of Coal India Limited.

Coal India is an India-based holding company. The Company is a coal mining company, which is engaged in the production and sale of coal. The Company offers products, including Coking Coal, Semi Coking Coal, Non-Coking Coal, Washed and Beneficiated Coal, Middlings, Rejects, Coal Fines/Coke Fines, and Tar/Heavy Oil/Light Oil/Soft Pitch. Its Middlings are used in power generation, brick manufacturing units and cement plants. The Washed and Beneficiated Coal products are used in the manufacturing of hard coke for steel making and power generation. Its Semi Coking Coal products are used as blend-able coal in steel making, merchant coke manufacturing and other metallurgical industries. Its Non-Coking Coal products are used for cement, fertilizer, glass, ceramic, paper, chemical and brick manufacturing, and for other heating purposes. CIL operates through approximately 82 mining areas spread over eight provincial states of India.
