The Head of Compliance and Government Relations, India will oversee the compliance function and manage relationships with government entities for Coda Payments. As the nodal officer for the company, this role involves ensuring adherence to all relevant regulations, managing regulatory risk, and acting as the primary liaison with government agencies. This position requires a strategic thinker with deep knowledge of financial regulations, strong communication skills, and the ability to navigate a complex regulatory landscape.

Responsibilities

  • Regulatory Compliance: Develop, implement, and maintain compliance policies and procedures in accordance with Indian financial and consumer protection regulations. Monitor changes in regulatory requirements and ensure timely updates to company policies and procedures. Provide guidance and training to staff on compliance-related matters.
  • Government Relations: Serve as the primary contact for government bodies and regulatory agencies, including FIU, RBI, MeitY and law enforcement agencies. Build and maintain effective relationships with key stakeholders, including regulatory authorities, industry associations, and policymakers. Represent the company in meetings, forums, and consultations with government agencies. Advocate for the company’s interests in regulatory and policy discussions.
  • Strategic Oversight: Collaborate with senior management to develop and execute strategies that align with regulatory requirements and business objectives. Provide expert advice on regulatory and compliance issues affecting business operations and strategic initiatives. Ensure accurate and timely reporting of compliance issues to the board of directors and senior management. Maintain comprehensive records of all compliance and government relations activities.
  • Risk Management: Identify potential compliance risks and develop strategies to mitigate them. Respond to regulatory inquiries, investigations, and enforcement actions in a timely and effective manner. Implement and monitor controls to manage compliance risk effectively.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Law, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Extensive experience (10+ years) in compliance, regulatory affairs, or government relations within the financial services sector.
  • Deep understanding of Indian financial regulations, including those related to payments and commerce.
  • Proven track record of successful interactions with regulatory agencies and government officials.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and negotiate effectively.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
