CodeBrave

CodeBrave is responding to Lebanon’s urgent need to equip the next generation with the tech and cognitive skills that align with the demands of the future workforce. Having started as a grassroots project at an orphanage in Kahaleh, we have since taught 4,200+ students at 40 schools and centres. We believe all children have the right to a great education and future opportunities to fulfill their potential. We have a bold vision: to introduce Coding and AI education as standard for all children in Lebanon starting at age 10. This initiative will be transformative for Lebanon, creating opportunities for young people and boosting the economy. This is a smart solution to an urgent problem: 88% of Lebanese tech companies report struggling to find the talent they need, while the tech sector in MENA is projected to grow fourfold from 2022-2030. Yet, schools in Lebanon leave youth ill-equipped, teaching an IT curriculum last updated in 1997, with youth unemployment at 48%. Candidates with tech skills can fill gaps at local companies or work remotely to meet the growing need in the region. We operate through two modalities: trained CodeBrave teachers directly delivering classes to students, or by upskilling local school teachers through intensive training and coaching to deliver our accredited curriculum to their students. Since 2020, we’ve come a long way: - 2,513 students aged 7-21 gained coding, robotics, and digital skills with CodeBrave, mainly through classes delivered as part of their school timetable - 53% of our students are female. - Over 85,587 hours of collective student learning. - 15 schools have been upskilled through teacher training to deliver coding & robotics education independently. - 93% positive outcomes from our WebDev graduates (securing internships, jobs or university scholarships).
