Chris Farwell

Chris Farwell is a Senior Scientist II at Codexis, Inc., specializing in upstream process development, overseeing fermentation operations for ECO RNA synthesis platform, and coordinating technology transfer for large-scale fermentation. Previously, Chris served as Director of Protein Discovery at Shiru, focusing on the implementation of Protein Large Language Models and establishing collaborations for protein expression. Chris has experience as a Senior Scientist and Fermentation Scientist at Shiru and Zymergen, respectively, where the development of high-throughput systems and microbial fermentation was key. Chris began a scientific career at Intrexon Corporation as a project lead for high-throughput screening. Academic qualifications include a Ph.D. in Chemistry from Caltech and a Master’s in Marine Sciences from UC Santa Barbara.
