Shirin Saleem has a diverse work experience in the field of AI technology. Shirin is currently serving as the Senior Director of AI Technology at Cognex Corporation since May 2023. Prior to that, they held the position of Vice President of AI Platform Solutions at Elemental Cognition from June 2021 to April 2023.

Before that, Shirin worked at Amazon for a significant period from 2013 to 2021. Shirin held several roles at Amazon, including Senior Manager of Research Science and Head of Alexa Translations, where they led the development of real-time speech translation capabilities and launched Alexa's first live translation feature. Shirin also served as a Senior Manager of Strategic Initiatives, Technical Product & Program Management in Alexa AI, where they focused on advancing and democratizing Alexa's NLU platform. During their time at Amazon, Shirin developed speech and NLP solutions for various feature launches and managed initiatives to improve the accuracy of Alexa's spoken language understanding system.

Prior to their tenure at Amazon, Shirin worked at Raytheon BBN Technologies as a Scientist and Staff Scientist from 2005 to 2013. Shirin also served as a Research Assistant at Carnegie Mellon University from 2003 to 2005.

Shirin Saleem completed their education with a B.E. in Electronics and Communication from the National Institute of Technology Karnataka in 2003. Later, they pursued an M.S. in Computer Science from Carnegie Mellon University, which they completed in 2005.
