Nowakowski was appointed vice president of institutional advancement (VPIA) in February 2019. She has served in various roles in our institutional advancement office since 1996, most recently as assistant VPIA from 2017-2019. Nowakowski is a current member of the Planned Giving Group of New England (PGGNE), the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP), and the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE). She previously served on the board of Women in Philanthropy of Western Mass as membership co-chair, as employee campaign coordinator at United Way of Pioneer Valley, and as a member of the Women in Philanthropy of Western Massachusetts and Cooperating Colleges of Greater Springfield Grants Group. She holds a bachelor’s degree in international studies and a master of arts in liberal arts degree, both from Elms College.

Elms College is a private coeducational Catholic college offering a liberal arts curriculum that gives students multiple perspectives on life. The college grants associate's, bachelor's, master's, and doctoral degrees in a range of subject areas, including nursing, social work, business, education, criminal justice, communication sciences and disorders, science and STEM, computer science, psychology, premed, and more.
