Rajeeva Bandaranaike started their work experience in 1990 as an Assistant Manager at LB Finance PLC. From 1992 to 2011, they served as the Assistant General Manager Clearing and Settlement at the Colombo Stock Exchange. In 2011, they became the Chief Executive Officer of People's Merchant Finance PLC, a position they held until 2012 when they joined Orient Finance PLC as their Chief Executive Officer. Since 2013, Rajeeva Bandaranaike has been the Chief Executive Officer of the Colombo Stock Exchange.
Rajeeva Bandaranaike pursued their education in a sequential manner. In 1983, they attended S.Thomas College Mount Lavinia. Later on, they enrolled at the University of Southern Queensland from 1997 to 1998, where they obtained an MBA in Business Administration. Additionally, they acquired a Bachelor of Laws Degree LLB from the Open University of Sri Lanka. Rajeeva also pursued a Post Graduate Diploma in Marketing from CIM | The Chartered Institute of Marketing.

The Colombo Stock Exchange (CSE) operates the only stock market in Sri Lanka and is responsible for providing a transparent and regulated environment where companies and investors can come together. CSE is a company that is limited by guarantee. It is licensed by the Securities and Exchange Commission of Sri Lanka (SEC) and is a mutual exchange consisting of 15 Members and 16 Trading Members. All Members and Trading Members are licensed by the SEC to operate as Stockbrokers. The CSE has its Head Office in the World Trade Centre, Colombo 1 and branches in Matara, Kandy, Kurunegala, Negombo, Jaffna, Anuradhapura, Ratnapura and Ambalantota.
