Mitch Rose

EVP, Federal Government Affairs at Comcast

As Executive Vice President, Federal Government Affairs, Mitch Rose oversees the company’s interactions with the United States Congress and the Administration and manages the Legislative Affairs team.

Prior to joining Comcast NBCUniversal, Mitch established Mitch Rose Strategic Consulting LLC in February 2006 and represented a variety of entertainment, telecommunications and other clients

Before establishing his own business, Rose was Vice President, Government Relations, for The Walt Disney Company. He was responsible for representing the company’s interests before the Administration and Congress. Rose worked on a variety of issues such as combating piracy of intellectual property, broadcast ownership caps, and government involvement in cable and broadcast content and programming decisions.

Prior to joining Disney, Rose spent over fifteen years on Capitol Hill. From 1997 to 2000, he was Chief of Staff to Senator Ted Stevens (R – Alaska), then-Chairman of the Committee on Appropriations. Rose managed a staff of more than 30, including six attorneys. He served as the Senator’s principal liaison with the Commerce Committee on all telecommunications and transportation issues and his chief advisor on political matters.

Rose was a key senate staff member in the revision of the Satellite Home Viewer Improvement Act, which for the first time enabled satellite carriers to offer local broadcast stations as a means to compete with incumbent providers. He also was instrumental on the staff level in drafting the Wendell H. Ford National Air Transportation System Improvement Act of 1998 and worked on the Internet Tax Freedom Act, among other important pieces of legislation. Rose assumed the communications portfolio immediately following enactment of the 1996 Telecommunications Act and worked with members, staff and the Federal Communications Commission to smooth its implementation.

Prior to joining Stevens’ staff, Mitch was a legislative aide for Congressman Don Young (R – Alaska). In addition, he served in a variety of positions for former Senate Majority Leader Bob Dole (R – Kansas), including Press Aide.

Mitch earned a Juris Doctorate degree from the Washington College of Law at American University and a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Washington in Seattle.

He is married to Dale Cabaniss and has three children: Ben, and twin daughters Shelby and Haley. Mitch was born in Anchorage, Alaska and resides in McLean, Virginia.
