Martin Greenwald is a cofounder of Commonwealth Fusion Systems, contributing expertise since 2018. Prior to this role, Martin served as the former Deputy Director of the Plasma Science & Fusion Center at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology from October 1978 until March 2022. Additionally, Martin was the Chairman of the Federal Advisory Committee for Fusion Energy Sciences at the U.S. Department of Energy from 2008 to 2013. Educationally, Martin holds a PhD in Physics from the University of California, Berkeley, attained in 1978, and dual BS degrees in Physics and Chemistry from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, completed in 1973.
